AWS credits for solar startups

Dedicated programme openLast checked 3 October 2026

The biggest pot for solar startups is Clean Energy Accelerator 4.0: Up to $100k; up to $300k for foundation-model builders. That's on top of the standard Activate tiers.

Solar startups often combine IoT data from meters and sensors, satellite or weather data and heavy modelling runs. The bill is driven by time-series storage and compute for simulations.

Does a solar company qualify?

  • Product startups (software or hardware you sell) qualify for Activate. Agencies, consultancies and dev shops that bill by the hour usually don't, unless they're building their own product.
  • Your company is usually under 10 years old, pre-Series B for the Provider tier, and hasn't had Activate credits before.
  • Past the startup stage? Established solar companies can look at business and migration funding instead.
  • Nonprofit or researcher? The AWS Imagine Grant and Cloud Credit for Research are separate from Activate.
